  • April 27th - THQ announced it was acquiring Relic in an all-cash transaction.
  • May - THQ fully acquires Relic.
  • September 20th - Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War released.

2003

Year of Homeworld 2

2002

Year of Impossible Creatures

  • Early 2002 - Homeworld 2 production restarted. Most of the early game design is thrown out.
  • Spring 2002 - Mecha joins Relic.
  • August 2002 - Word leaks outthat the October Edition of PC Gamer has the first 6 screenshots of Homeworld 2
  • August 1st, 2002 - Barking Dog Studios sold to Take Two Interactive and is rebranded as Rockstar:Vancouver
  • September 6th, 2002 - Word Reaches the community that varkcoldguru passed away from cancer.
  • November 2002 - Impossible Creatures Magazine Demo and Online Stress Test begin.
  • December 2002 - Impossible Creatures online downloadable demo released.
  • December 18, 2002 - Impossible Creatures goes gold.

  • May - At E3, Homeworld 2 is a no show.
  • August - Word trickles out via EvilAvatar that Homeworld 2 has been cancelled by Sierra (later proven that Relic actually did the cancelling, not Sierra).
