The Homeworld Community Server provides IRC (Internet Relay Chat) service to the Relic Community. Relic IRC can be accessed via irc.hwcommunity.com. or via Web IRC at hwu.hwcommunity.com/irc

Etiquette

IRC is a more free-wheeling place than the Relic Forums and may come as a shock to some users. Kicking, for example, is usually considered a punishment on IRC channels; however, in #homeworld, kicking is commonplace, often used for humour, and may even be a sign of affection. If one is sensitive to profanity, elitism, immaturity, or the like, one should probably try out a channel other than #homeworld to start with.

One should not assume, however, that IRC has no rules. New users (and oldtimers, for that matter) should read the IRC Message of the Day carefully and obey the simple rules therein.
