Lachesis atatata

Lachesis atatata was a mysterious individual who appeared one day on the forums in late 1999 and posted the file format specifications for the Homeworld (.big) archive format. The inability to decode the critical .big archives had been frustrating the newly-formed modding community since Homeworld was released and had prevented any serious attempt at modifying the game.

Soon after the file specifications were known, forum community members began to develop archiving tools and Homeworld modding was born.

To this date, no one admits to knowing the identity of our mysterious benefactor, and he has never been seen again on the forums. Was "Lachesis_atatata" a pseudonym for a leet haxor or possibly a Sierra/Relic insider? Only the Shadow knows, and probably ÜberJumper, but neither one is talking.
