IgnusDei is a well known denizen of The Studio. Specializing in drawing mechanical armour suits with large square crotches, Ignus applied for a job with Relic several times but to no avail. He is occasionally employed as an illustrator for VulnePro, working on the newly revived Terran Trade Authority franchise, which originally inspired some of the ship designs in Homeworld. On October 2006, he signed a contract with ThreeWave Software, which now occupies Relic's former office space. After his three week-long contracts ran out, He was approached by Lee Stephen to work on a new franchise. in 2007, He was contracted by Ironclad Games to work on Sins of a Solar Empire. In late 2008, he was briefly employed full time at Eidos Montreal, but left for health issues.

Art style

IgnusDei's artwork when he joined the forums was primarily grayscale drawings made in pen, pencil and paper and scanned onto the computer. A tutorial made by Arioch inspired him to give his line drawings a cell shaded color scheme, and it was then that he began to truly scratch the surface of Photoshop. He then came across the artwork of Feng Zhu, and attempted to improve his linework and make use of vanishing points. However, he neither had the dexterity nor the patience for it, much to his frustration. More drawings came with no particular progress in skill in sight until he closely observed a piece of concept art by Jon Aaron Kambeitz for Homeworld 2. From it, he deduced the basic theory of brushing with photoshop and took a considerably different approach to coloring.

In 2004, Ignus finally invested in a tablet, and began to focus more on painting than actual drawing, although handmade sketches were still vastly important to his work. He also tried his hand at character design, and attempted to improve his figure drawings through constant correction via photoshop, much to the amusement of his peers.

In 2007, He added Corel Painter to his tools.

Online Personality

IgnusDei's presence on the forums was once represented on posts on a variety of the subforums in the form of comments on various topics, and threads in The Studio showcasing his latest piece of work. As of late, his presence has diminished, with his average post count now at 1.79 per day.

On mIRC, IgnusDei enjoys making disturbing comments to freak out other members of the community. A search of "IgnusDei" on the Relic Community Quotes Database yields some interesting results, though readers beware.
