Homeworld (IRC channel)
From RelicWiki
#homeworld, while named after the game Homeworld, is the general purpose IRC channel for the Relic Community. It averages 40-50 members, although most of those in-channel at any particular time are likely being idling bitches.
It is a place of recurring hilarity and vicious mano-a-mano abuse, and has been witness to most skibbisodes recorded in human history.
#homeworld is not for the faint of heart or the overly sensitive. If you suspect that you might be actually insulted by insults, offended by undeserved /kicks that boot you from the channel, or discouraged because you're targeted for abuse, you should probably find a different channel to socialize in. Don't say we didn't warn you, you semi-sentient bulbous-nosed chowderheaded yutz.

Mockery
- The first rule of #homeworld is that one does not talk about Homeworld.
- The second rule of #homeworld is that one does not talk about Homeworld.
- The third rule of #homeworld is that if one has been (mis)quoted in the topic of the channel, one may not alter the topic in such a way as to remove the reference, or coerce someone else to do so.
Welcome to #homeworld. You have chosen, or been chosen, to relocate to one of our finest remaining irc chat channels. I thought so much of #homeworld that I elected to establish my Administration here in the internet so thoughtfully provided by our benefactors. I have been proud to call #homeworld my home. And so, whether you are here to stay, or passing through on your way to parts unknown, Welcome to #homeworld. It's safer here.

The Blitz
There was a User who needed to talk to Ap0k, Bonnet, or any mod desperately. He proceeded to type obscenities in the channel, until he was put to rest by Our Glorious ManGod. Afterward, Blitz was verbally flogged by the normally hostile and wary inhabitants of the channel. These elite few unified in a glorious rally, and decided to put aside their usual discussions and work together to defeat this new foe. Before he was banished, however, Blitz warned he would haxx #hw, and RelicNews. He claimed to "have 3 modems and lots of computers" and he would "hook up his new modem to get a new IP." Anyone with more than 4 brain cells knows that the Internet does not work that way. After #hw was deemed safe, and the foe utterly destroyed by the defensive Portable Ion Cannons, the group digressed to it's normal mode of existence.
The next day, a user named HumbleChineseDude had joined, and the intelligent and now veteran members of #hw took to an early defense, /whois-ing the user, and finding out not only that this was Blitz, but he had learned to almost conceal himself, using a weak proxy, if at all. These hardened heroes once again manned the battlements, and fought hard to keep their sides from rupturing from laughter as they senselessly beat the collective internet out of this sorry excuse for a hacker. He decided to quit, and come back as Dynethos, a somewhat clever, yet ultimately failed attempt to impersonate the real Dyntheos. After some more hilarity was taken at this poor misguided internet tough guy, SquidDNA decided to end this user's suffering by levying a kickban on his sorry posterior.
More recently, a user by the name of Worf2 decided to also spam the glorious tubes of #hw with more hate speech geared towards Relic, the Admins, the Mods, and even Buggo.
Commie Day
Every once in a while, Commie Day is declared in #homeworld. This is usually caused by one member declcaring a revolution. Members who choose to participate will then change their nicks to "russianized" versions of the normal, and address each other as comrade.
After a while, the comrades lose interest or someone declares '1991', after which things return to "normal".
At some points, the communist revolution of #homeworld has spread and invaded other channels, most notably #dow_community.
Older Revolutions
In the olden days of #freelance, everyone in the channel was opped upon entry, giving them the power to kick and ban other users. Occasionally, communism would break out in #hw:c (the main discussion channel at that time) when a channel op decided to op everyone in the channel for a period of time.
